About The Summit Valley Horse Center

Commitment

Community Commitment

The purpose of Summit Valley Horse Center Ranch is to serve our community by offering children and adults the opportunity to interact with horses in a safe and controlled environment, learning horse training skills and the benefits that derive from training horses of increased personal emotional awareness and leadership skills.

SVHC is a working ranch, training rescued horses that can become loving members of local families. Working with horses, especially rescued horses that desperately need our love and care, carries over to enhanced self-awareness of our own emotions and leadership skills in our social interactions with people throughout our lives.

Our Philosophy

Our PhilosophyWe believe that success in the human arena depends on the thoughts, attitudes and actions that need to be present to support a happy and fulfilling life. We also believe that animals, especially horses, have a lot to teach us regarding communication, collaboration, relationships and unconditional love.

There is something “magical” that happens when a horse shows a child (or adult) what they are thinking and how they are being, in ways they are not aware of. The horse essentially “tells” us when we are being successful or not, by being reflections of our behavior.

The horse shows us when we are thinking good thoughts or bad thoughts, by being relaxed when we are thinking positive thoughts and being nervous and fearful when we are allowing negative thoughts. By thinking the correct thoughts, which directly affects our energy, the horse partners with us and will collaborate in all sorts of fun activities. Horses, because of their hyper-vigilance and loving, intelligent nature - can raise our awareness about ourselves by being mirrors of our behavior.

The Value of Horses in Human Lives

The Value of Horses

When working with rescued horses, the SVHC vision is larger than rescuing individual horses from inhumane slaughter.  Our goal is to increase public awareness through volunteer staffing of our training programs about the value of these animals in human lives.  Horses have served humans for thousands of years and have evolved along with us.  We are just beginning to understand what these incredible beings have to offer as they partner with us in expanding our awareness about life.

Our passion for these efforts is fueled by the excitement of seeing children and adults serving as volunteer staff training the rescue horses in a safe structured environment, realizing through horses they have the power to direct their whole life in a whole new way – the way they want their life to be!
